An exhibition exploring the dynamics of ceramics
Curated by Nicole Maggs
The Curious Novice surveys the continuous creative development of the medium of clay. Probing dual perspectives of creator and user, the exhibition features the works of six emerging and established ceramicists.
Dennis Forshaw, Claudia deSalvo, Angus McDiarmid, Anwen Thomas, Pimparat Tantisukarom, and Lauren Cope invite visitors to join their creative exploration through process and form, in an immersive experience designed to transport visitors into a world of infinite possibilities and wonder.
The Curious Novice examines the artist’s connection to their work – the anticipation, wonder, and joy that comes with the firing of each piece – and culminates in the final presentation to the recipient. Through exploring the notion that ceramics represents more than mere objects, The Curious Novice dives into the metaphysical connection between the artist, the medium, the object, the recipient, and the user.
The curiosity of creation meets the brilliance of transformation in The Curious Novice.
